Finding Your Voice

We've all been there. We're driving and our favorite song comes on the radio. We try to emulate the sound of the artist who's voice is coming out of the speaker.  Want Beyonce vibes? Got it! Want Ed Sheeran? Okay.  We try to hit those high notes to the detriment of our throats, or we try to hit those low notes and fail miserably.  Many can mimic but there is something to be said about being authentically you.

One of the hardest things to do is to find your own voice.  It took me decades to do it.  We all have that something special that makes us uniquely us.  Don't be afraid to let that uniqueness out.  People tell me all the time to smile when I sing, brighten up my voice or show more emotion.  Music is where I can be my true self and sometimes the message doesn't call for a big bright smile.

Take some time to relax and sing.  Maybe even try speaking the song before you sing it.  Keep yourself in mind when you sing.  Leave Bey and Ed in the car.
